Jeff Brown is a Health Level Seven (HL7®) FHIR® (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) and CDA® (Clinical Document Architecture) standards expert with over 25 years’ experience in the healthcare industry. He has over 30 years of software engineering and data architecture experience having designed and developed a complete, multi-tiered electronic health record (EHR), scheduling, and messaging system. He is a long-time member of HL7 International, a certified HL7 Educator for FHIR, a member of HL7’s FHIR Management Group, and an HL7 Technical Steering Committee member. He also participates in various Work Groups (WGs) and serves as a mentor at HL7 Working Group Meetings to support newer attendees and members’ HL7 experience.

At Lantana, Jeff supports the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) FHIR Strategy project by providing thought leadership and healthcare standards expertise. He leads developers of implementation guides (IGs) and reference implementations (RIs). He also provides guidance and education to Lantana staff and external stakeholders on healthcare standards and supports strategic planning and business development activities.
