Lantana Academy was formerly known as the CDA Academy. The name changed to reflect the broad curriculum covering topics other than CDA. While the name has changed, the curriculum has not. The workshops are well received - with 100% of attendee evaluations noting the session met or exceeded their expectations.
Here is what some of our attendees have had to say:
"The CDA Academy is by far the best and quickest way to make sense of the CDA standard. The skilled instructors lead informative classes while evening networking events present a great opportunity to interact and share ideas with your peers. The time and effort cost savings more than pay for the course."
SAMIR JAIN, Community Solutions Development, Allscripts
"The CDA Academy is a very well instructed learning environment that encourages questions and group discussions. The instructors are very knowledgeable in what they are teaching because they live and breathe CDA standards. The after school evening activities were fun and allowed for more candid questions with the instructors. We were able to carry on discussions that emerged from the class in a more casual environment. The CDA Academy helped reaffirm my knowledge about the CDA standards, and I feel more confident about passing the HL7 CDA Specialist certification exam."
MICHAEL TYBURSKI, Social Security Administration
“The course was top notch, the instructors were energetic and took interest in every student in the class. The material was detailed and focused yet presented in such a way that users with limited CDA experience could develop and understand CDA documents by the end of the course. I would recommend this course to anyone in the medical industry that interacts with Electronic Medical Data particularly Continuity of Care Documents (CCD’s).”
STEVE LEONARD, Systems Engineer, Harris Corporation
“The CDA Academy was a thorough and highly-executed workshop. Not only did it convey a deep understanding of the HL7 CDA/CCD standards and related implementation guides, it also made clear the big picture of healthcare standards and terminology and how these impact all healthcare systems interoperability. The workshop provided numerous opportunities to interact with the instructors and other healthcare standards experts. In addition, participants from several organizations shared personal expertise in specific healthcare domains, business challenges, and best practices for healthcare systems implementations. While each day was packed with valuable presentations and hands-on exercises, evening activities were equally exciting and dynamic. The exchange of ideas, relevant information, and ability to network made the conference extremely beneficial and well worth the time invested!”
CHIRAG BHATT, Vice President, FEI Systems
“CDA Academy was a unique and invaluable training experience. The combination of in-depth lessons and hand-on exercises, along with access to industry experts, provided the foundation in CDA that we have been looking for. I would highly recommend the training and we will be sending additional employees to future sessions.”
MARK STINE, Principal Systems Architect, MedPlus
“CDA is deceptively simple in concept, but the devil is in the details. Prior to attending the CDA Academy, I thought I had a pretty good handle on what CDA was all about, but I was wrong. If you’re serious about understanding CDA and how it relates to the CCD and other formats, then this workshop is an absolute requirement - you’ll be lost without it.”
ACEY BUNCH, Senior Programmer Analyst, Medflow, Inc.
"I learned a lot more than I thought I would. There were lots of hands on exercises that really helped in understanding the CDA Architecture and in creating related XML documents. It was great to be in an environment that required a lot of teamwork. The evenings were fun with different activities planned for each day. Everything exceeded my expectations. There are many helpful teaching aids, and a reliable communication plan that includes postcards, emails, follow up webinars and a website, and an absolutely positive and encouraging faculty. I would recommend this excellent course to anybody who wants to learn the nuts and bolts of CDA."
BOBBY GEORGE, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
"The CDA Academy training was excellent. It covered the CDA specification in depth and provided us with the skills needed to utilize the available tools and guides to understand and implement CDA documents. We had access to an impressive array of instructors and panelists, and the materials provided were very complete and have proved to be an excellent reference following the course. In addition, the CDA Academy provided numerous opportunities for fun and networking, allowing us to get to know the other attendees and experience the beautiful Dartmouth campus and surrounding towns."

"Having been involved in a number of CDA-based projects, this course allowed me to have a greater, more in-depth understanding of the potential and real-world application of the standard."
FELICIANO YU, MD, Children's Hospital of Alabama
"The module on GreenCDA was particularly useful. It will help us simplify our processes."
MARK MC CLELLAN, Informatics Corporation of America
"As a clinician, my biggest concern coming into the CDA academy was that the class would be way too technical and extremely difficult to follow. I found out that that was not the case at all. The class was very easy to follow. It provided much insight into the data and structure that is needed to reliably share clinical information. I now understand the information that is needed for the computer to "consume" information as well as the information that user would need to see in order to provide safe effective clinical care. I feel that every clinician who is using computers to document and share clinical information should take this class."
